Well everybody I'm back from holidays

The trip was amazing and Europe was beautiful, but Turkey was definately my favourite place out of everywhere that I went. The land is so beautiful and there is so much to do (hello mud baths!)

So now I am home and I have been flat out! I've started 2 courses with CGMA - Environment Sketching for Production with Sam Michlap - Digital Painting 1B with Devid Merritt. I am loving it so far, even having to get up at 4am to watch live Q&A vids (because of timezone differences).
I'm sure I will upload some of my works here as I get further into the course but right now I am not confident enough to show them to the world because I am still so noob with digital painting.

Commissions Open + Update

Hello DA family! Just letting you all know that commissions are open at the moment for my traditional mixed media pieces.

People

From shoulders up - $40
Torso up - $50
Full Body - $70

Animals

Head Only- $40
Full Body - $60

And, update of my life:
I will be traveling to Germany and most likely around Europe and also Turkey in August/September. Hooray! I have been to a couple of Asian countries but never Europe. I'm pretty excited.
Also, I am thinking I will do a course in creative writing next year with a minor in Japanese (I'd like to start mid this year but if I'm going overseas it will kind of clash). I'm hoping to compliment my animation degree which also qualifies me for illustration. Would love to illustrate books/mags etc., so I can give myself a boot this way I suppose. And Japanese, studied it all through school, haven't for the last 3 years but would love to get back into it, so that's that! : )
And lastly, I have started entering my artwork into competitions thanks to the lovely supportive girls from the art store I work at. They help motivate me to pursue my art. I'm very excited, I will be in an exhibition in May. Fun!

More of Me on DA

I have barely been on DA lately, so slack! So I have decided to stop being lazy, upgrade my account and post some work. I am going to start posting more of my art work on here now too (instead of just makeup work).

I haven't written a journal since I started my Diploma of Specialty Makeup Services 11 months ago! So I'll fill you in, the course wasn't all I had dreamed of... it turned out to be much worse. I learnt a lot, I'll give them that, but those 6 months of my life were horrible. The head of the academy was a nightmare and I felt sick everytime I thought she was teaching my class or taking my exams. She turned out to be a bit nicer right towards the end, maybe she thought she had to be tough to make us work harder or something? I don't know...
But apart from that, I did have two very cool teachers, one had worked on Harry Potter and the Prinsoner of Azkaban, and the other had worked with lots of famous musicians and on some Tim Burton productions. So it wasn't all bad! Though I am definately glad to be finished the course.

Since then I have been trying to get my freelance makeup business up and running, I'm getting there slowly. I have changed my busines name from Splat Body Art to Amaya Makeup Artistry, seeing as I do makeup now, not just face and body painting. So I will be changing my name on DA to match. Also, I have started working at an art shop called Eckersleys. It's really awesome because I get to try lots of new products and learn new things constantly. It sure beats working in the bottle shop! No more drunks to put up with. Yay!

I still have a debt to pay for my course tuition that I got a loan for... so COMMISSIONS ARE OPEN. This includes makeup looks, makeup tutorials and traditional art pieces ~ pastels or copic markers.
I can do fanart or originals, you choose.

$30 for A4 work, $35 if you would like the original work sent to you.
$20 for makeup looks.
$30 for tutuorials

Colourful Shoot and AOM

Well, next Friday I will finally be starting my diploma of makeup at the Academy of Makeup in Brisbane. I am so excited

So you can expect to see alot of makeup work from me for the next 6 months and I'm sure I'll keep you all up-to-date with what I'm learning at school.

I will be opening commissions on my other account (for non makeup work)

because I am in need of money to pay off my course! So if you're interested go check it out and hit me up with a note <3

Also, tomorrow I will be doing another shoot with Picture This! Kate Whatman Photography. We're going for a colorful kind of theme. So you can expect to see photos from the shoot in the next few days!
